Job DescriptionEngineering Lead
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to oversee the design, development, and implementation of custom upfitting solutions for our fleet. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of hands-on experience in truck body assembly and upfitting, with strong skills in engineering design, project management, and leadership. This role requires a deep understanding of vehicle systems and upfitting processes to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that meet customer specifications. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the engineering team responsible for custom upfitting solutions for trucks and vehicles, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to staff.

Establish clear project goals, timelines, and standards.

Oversee the design and integration of modifications to truck bodies, specialized vehicle systems, and customer-specific requirements.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and meet customer needs.

Use engineering software and tools to develop blueprints, schematics, and specifications.

Apply knowledge of truck body assembly processes, materials, and upfitting techniques to develop customized solutions.

Work with production, operations, and sales teams to ensure seamless communication of project requirements.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.

Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Work directly with customers to understand needs and provide expert guidance.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.

Develop and manage project budgets for cost efficiency.

Maintain accurate records of engineering designs, project progress, and changes.

Provide progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in truck body assembly, upfitting, and vehicle customization (REQUIRED).

Proven leadership skills to manage engineering and technical teams.

Strong background in engineering design, project management, and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to upfitting.

Proficiency in engineering software for blueprints and technical specifications.

Excellent communication skills for cross-department and customer interactions.

Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
