Job Description:
Seeking an X-Ray Technologist to operate radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body. The ideal candidate will prepare patients for radiological procedures, follow radiation safety protocols, and ensure high-quality imaging while maintaining patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them and adjusting immobilization devices and equipment.
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and help reduce anxiety.
- Operate radiology equipment and adjust exposure factors to obtain diagnostic images.
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by following radiation protection techniques and using appropriate shielding.
- Follow established infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain the quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures.
- Complete and verify examinations and document patient care in departmental records.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Maintain radiology supplies and inventory.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Keep professional and technical knowledge current through continuing education.
- Complete yearly Age-Specific Competency requirements.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
- Graduate of a JCERT-approved School of Radiologic Technology required.
Licensure/Certification:
- Active New York State Department of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist (L.R.T.) required.
- ARRT Certification required.
Experience/Skills:
- No prior experience required.
- Competency in performing diagnostic radiology procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Quality-focused, dependable, and organized.
- Ability to maintain a safe and effective working environment.
Additional Information:
- Day shift; schedule varies.
- 40 hours per week.
- Position requires floating between the listed locations.
- Must follow radiation safety and infection control procedures.
- Must complete yearly Age-Specific Competency requirements.
