TEMPORARY & ON-CALL ASSIGNMENT | IMMEDIATE HIRE
We are seeking dedicated and compassionateBehavioral Support Specialiststo join our team. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential on-demand support to adults with developmental disabilities who may exhibit behavioral challenges and mental health concerns. Your ability to effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors will be crucial.
Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate, on-call support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, self-care needs, and home-based routines.
- Implement behavior support plansand de-escalation techniques as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals and staff.
- Observe, document, and communicate behavioral progress, incidents, and daily activities thoroughly and accurately.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor, fostering a supportive and respectful environment.
- Advocate for the rights and dignity of all individuals served.
- Maintain effective communication with individuals, their families, team members, and Regional Center representatives to ensure the highest quality of care.
- Contribute to a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- A minimum of one year of direct experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, particularly those with behavioral challenges.Experience with seniors or children with special needs will also be considered.
- Demonstrated compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check.
- Must obtain or possess a current health screening and TB test prior to employment.
- Current Adult CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus (must be obtained within 48 hours of hire).
- Possession of current CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification is highly preferred (or willingness to complete within 48 hours of hire).
- Possession of a current State ID.
Working Conditions:
This is a position that requires flexibility and responsiveness. Our programs and services operate 24/7, 365 days a year. Due to the nature of the role, you must:
- Be able to walk, bend, squat, turn at the knees, back, wrist, and shoulders, and use hands to properly perform techniques taught in CPR/First Aid and crisis intervention, as well as other duties essential for resident safety.
- Be able to see and hear with or without corrections.
- Be prepared for possible exposure to profanity, aggressive, or violent behaviors from individuals.
- Be aware of possible exposure to COVID-19.
