Pay Grade: Grade 5
Starting Wage: $16.10 - $19.91

Position Summary: The Surveillance Operator is responsible for asset protection of the casino, resort, Y-Store, Nett Lake Store, Wilderness and surrounding business entities utilizing video surveillance to monitor our patrons, vendors, and employees that visit one of our business enterprises. The Surveillance Operator monitors gaming activities to detect cheating, identifies violations of policy and procedure, and documents evidence through video archiving and reporting. The Surveillance Operator monitors video surveillance of the Cage, Drop and Count, Food and Beverage outlets, Marina, Outbuildings and shops, parking lots, Resort and amenities, Slots, and Table Games. The Surveillance Operator serves as a dispatcher on behalf of risk management and coordinates with Security, Manager on Duty, and EMS personnel when notifying 911 and when emergency services are required on property. The Surveillance Operator conducts investigations through the review of surveillance video recordings and reporting. The Surveillance Operator must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of their duties.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
The Surveillance Operator is responsible for the following duties:
- Learn and become proficient with the property including the department’s policies and procedures, NIGC (National Indian Gaming Commission) regulations, and game protection standards.
- Ensure high standards of performance of Surveillance Operators.
- Operate and monitor room equipment and programs, including basic computer functions.
- Safeguard and uphold the confidentiality of Fortune Bay’s financial, customer and personnel information.
- Monitors and tracks the activities of tables, customers, and employees using surveillance systems, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
- Monitor the radio channels.
- Responsible for dispatching security personnel in response to both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Knowledge of radio and emergency codes.
- Knowledge of the fire suppression panel.
- Demonstrates understanding and operational knowledge of the SuperPlaymate and Omniview program withing OASIS system for monitoring, reporting, and data management.
- Coordinate severe weather notifications with other departments and emergency services.
- Demonstrates strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Listen, follow directions, and pay close attention to detail.
- Participate in and have knowledge of Tips Training, Blackjack Training, and Poker Training.
- Monitor/observe and report any gaming violations or thefts on Fortune Bay’s property.
- Learn all table games in use at Fortune Bay.
- Learn and become proficient at various card counting systems.
- Record gaming and security-related incidents within the monitor room utilizing digital video recorder.
- Write reports.
- Maintain and complete up to date record keeping duties such as daily logs, medical reports, etc.
- May be required to testify in court regarding incidents, investigations, or security matters.
- Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and perform effectively under pressure.
- Maintains knowledge of relevant compliance standards, regulations, and reporting procedures.
- Understands and follows proper procedures and managing the viewing room.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for documentation, data entry, and report generation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership Team.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous surveillance or surveillance system experience.
- Military, security, or law enforcement experience.
- Good with computers and technology.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to handle basic math on the fly.
- Report writing experience.

The work environment is fast-paced, detail-oriented, which requires good overall mental and physical health.

Job-specific abilities and requirements include:
Ability to work in a secure, smaller, and low-lighted work environment with exposure to multiple closed-circuit cameras and monitors.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Good hand and eye coordination.
Ability to lift to thirty pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive motion from use of a computer.
Handle two-way radio calls.
Rotating shift work.
20/20 vision or with corrective lenses.
Ability to tolerate various scents, noises, and bright lights.
