- We are hiring immediately for a full time FINE HORTICULTURE GROUNDS SUPERVISOR position.
- Location: TAMU Grounds - 600 Agronomy Road, College Station, TX 77843. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only.
- Schedule: Full time schedule; Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. More details upon interview. (Full and Part Time with the flexibility to meet most scheduling needs)
- Requirement: Prior supervisory and horticulture knowledge experience.
- Pay Range: $20.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour.

Job Summary
Summary: The Grounds Supervisor leads and supports a multi-faceted grounds operation, working hands-on to guide and educate team members in quality landscape management and sound horticultural practices. This role requires strong organization, discipline, and a proactive approach to stewardship. The supervisor also collaborates with other team leaders on projects and events, and provides additional support as needed at the direction of the Grounds Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Properly train staff in operational procedures for operations
- Ensure Quality Assurance of work performed through recorded Q/A system and frequent inspections of team as work is performed.
- Train team/ staff in proper methods, protocol for horticulture using SOP’s (development may be required).
- Ability to work in field under extreme weather conditions, approximate work load 70% field work 30% administrative.
- Control expenses within the scope of responsibility.
- Provide weekly operating reports to Grounds Manager/ VP Grounds Management.
- Responsible for productivity and staffing that is appropriate to achieved results as outlined by Resident Regional Grounds Manager.
- Conduct and assist in interviewing, hiring and progressive counseling/ coaching.
- Maintain and support client satisfaction to ensure account retention
- Assist in customizing programs to meet client’s unique needs as required
- Training; Stay current with all requirements of job/ licenses and or certifications
- Train for safety compliance, operational procedures, and company policies
- Compliance, ensure compliance with Compass, local, state and federal requirements which may include record keeping, training, or license/ certifications. Inclusive of MSDS, pesticide records.
- Willing to occasionally travel overnight including flying for training or support
Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills with both senior clients and internal teams.

Proven experience in employee management and setting priorities in a dynamic environment.

Thorough understanding of contract administration, office procedures, and landscape operations.

Solid knowledge of plant materials, including trees, shrubs, grasses, ground covers, and ornamentals.

Capable of effective written and verbal communication, including presentations.

Able to work in varying weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Willingness to work outside standard hours based on crop or weather needs.

Holds a Commercial Pesticide License (Turf & Ornamentals category).

Experienced in operating grounds equipment and vehicles; willing to learn large equipment such as tractors, skid steers, mowers, sod cutters, and trenchers.
