Field Technician - Power Systems

What You’ll Do
- Perform field testing, inspection, and maintenance of switchgear, circuit breakers, and transformers (45 kVA – 130 MVA)
- Troubleshoot and start up electrical systems up to 500kV
- Conduct power factor testing, cable testing, relay and control troubleshooting
- Work with SF6-filled equipment and gas-insulated switchgear (experience preferred)
- Document findings, perform technical reporting, and assist in commissioning
- Travel to customer sites (up to 50%) with a commitment to safety and professionalism
- Mentor junior techs and lead crews depending on your level
Ideal Experience & Qualifications
We’re hiring across multiple levels: Tech II, Tech III, Tech IV, and Senior Field Technicians. Here’s what we’re looking for by level:
Tech II
- 2+ years of experience in power systems testing
- NETA Level II certification
- Understands arc-flash safety, LOTO, and hazardous energy procedures
Tech III
- 5+ years of experience and NETA Level III certification
- Leads crews, evaluates test data, and ensures safety of others
- Familiar with MCCs, relays, infrared scanning, and utility-grade equipment
Tech IV
- 5–10 years’ experience or Associate’s degree + 5 years
- NETA Level IV certification
- Independently leads projects, supervises crews, and prepares formal technical reports
Senior Field Tech
- 5+ years in field testing of electrical systems through 230kV+
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NETA, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA standards
- Prefer military training (Army Prime Power, Navy Electricians, etc.)

Location & Travel
- Project in Blaine, MN (Can be remote with travel)
- Travel required up to 50% (overnight, with per diem included)

Compensation
- $55–$70/hour depending on level, experience, and certifications
- Overtime eligible
