Job DescriptionSenior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Oshkosh, WI (Hybrid – Onsite minimum 3 days per week)
Duration: 6 months + possible extension
Pay: $52-57/hr
Travel: Up to 1 week every 2–3 months within the U.S. (per diem provided during travel)
Interview Process: Phone interview followed by onsite meeting
Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing reliable, cost-effective, and high-performance components for heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves engineering analysis, redesign, and integration of components into both existing and new vehicle platforms. The engineer will collaborate across disciplines and suppliers to ensure successful design execution and performance.
Key Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical design experience
  • Hands-on mechanical engineering background
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engineering calculations, design analysis, and related investigations following internal and industry standards.
  • Support senior engineers with planning, design, and reporting tasks.
  • Manage individual projects or sub-projects with limited complexity.
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams and external suppliers to ensure technical alignment.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, designers, or technicians.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external partners on technical matters.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering criteria, drawing standards, and company policies.
  • Evaluate and improve designs for safety, performance, and reliability.
  • Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Conduct engineering analysis for material and component selection.
  • Provide production support and assist in resolving engineering issues.
  • Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Document and maintain project data and analytical records.
  • Apply mathematical and analytical methods to optimize system performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Automotive closures or heavy-vehicle component design experience
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-equipment systems
  • Experience with advanced CAD systems
  • Prior collaboration with suppliers in a design or development capacity

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Capable of independent decision-making within established guidelines
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring or guiding junior team members
