Position Summary
Briefly is looking for an IT Leader to be responsible and accountable for the implementation, hands-on operation, and management of IT infrastructure services across the firm and client organizations in a secure, cloud-first environment. This individual will report to the VP, Information Technology and will manage a team consisting of a Systems Architect and multiple Systems Administrators, while remaining directly involved in technical execution and architectural decision-making.
The successful candidate will have proven leadership, coaching and communication skills, with solid experience as a leader of a systems and infrastructure administration team in a distributed user environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Systems Administration team, including prioritization of work, hands-on technical guidance, and solution design.
- Work collaboratively with the IT leadership team and other members of the organization to achieve department and team goals.
- Ensure that all team processes, system configurations, and operational procedures are consistently documented at a detailed level.
- Ensure compliance with license agreements and contracts.
- Ensure that team members are adequately trained to perform their responsibilities and that technical standards, security requirements, and team processes are followed at all times.
- Provide regular and timely feedback to team members on performance and mentor them to exceed expectations while achieving personal growth objectives.
- Gather requirements, perform analysis, prepare business cases or justifications, design solutions with a focus on infrastructure lifecycle, security, and operational sustainability.
- Working collaboratively with others and lead projects spanning team boundaries as necessary.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure effective service delivery and continuous improvement.
- Oversee incident, problem, and change management processes related to infrastructure services, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption, while serving as the highest technical escalation point for complex systems issues.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in infrastructure management, including automation, security, scalability, and disaster recovery.
- Occasionally travel to other locations for work purposes, as appropriate in order to support team efforts and objectives.
- Oversee and provide technical ownership for enterprise platforms including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, iManage, Adobe, and RingCentral.
- Help establish and consistently enforce endpoint, identity, and security standards across hardware, software, and systems that interface with the firm’s technology environment.
- Guide architectural decisions related to cloud services, endpoint management, platform consolidation, and lifecycle management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure management or service delivery, with at least 2 years in a hands-on leadership role
- Strong understanding of networking, server administration, identity and endpoint management, Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure), and modern cloud-first infrastructure operations
- Proven experience managing service delivery in a complex, multi-vendor, multi-client environment
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft 365 services and administration, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and related platform services
- Strong working knowledge of Windows applications software, including installing and configuring desktop applications using centralized management and endpoint tooling.
- Experience supporting legal or other professional services organizations is preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple projects or work streams simultaneously utilizing a project management tool such as MS Planner, SmartSheet, or MS Project
- Ability to perform high-level project estimates, identify key milestones, and manage tasks across multiple team members and vendors to deliver projects on time with a high degree of customer satisfaction
- Experience working in a metrics-driven environment
- Track record of identifying and driving process improvements to the bottom line
