Position Title: Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Location: Moffett Field, CA
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PT (excluding holidays)

Position Summary:

Metis Technology Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support multiple security plans under NASA Ames Aeronautics Directorate (Code A) through the Aerospace, Research, Technology, and Simulation (ARTS) contract at NASA Ames Research Center. The ISSO will provide comprehensive IT security services in support of the Aeronautics Directorate. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT security plans, ensuring compliance with NASA and federal cybersecurity requirements. The ISSO will work closely with Code A Division and Branch staff and other stakeholders to support mission-critical systems and maintain the security posture of various IT environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and update System Security Plans (SSPs) for systems including ARC ADS, ATM TestBed, ARC Wind Tunnel, and SimLabs.
• Perform routine and ongoing maintenance of SSPs in RISCS and ensure timely updates.
• Support organizations in meeting mandated Agency IT and System Security Plan requirements.
• Prepare cost and work estimates, and draft Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for new events or services.
• Collaborate with Code A staff to identify or develop Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for supported services.
• Utilize and manage IT resources such as hardware, systems software, utility software, networks, and monitoring systems.
• Recommend and implement new tools and applications to enhance IT support capabilities.
• Provide account management services, including ensuring warning banners are installed on all servers.
• Address vulnerabilities identified through IT security scans and ensure timely remediation.
• Respond to critical service outages during off-hours on a best-effort basis when notified by monitoring systems or users.
• Ensure compliance with NASA IT security guidelines and maintain system security at all required levels.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in IT security or a related role.
• Strong understanding of federal cybersecurity standards and NASA IT security requirements.
• Experience with System Security Plan development and maintenance.
• Familiarity with RISCS or similar compliance tracking systems.
• Proficiency in vulnerability management and remediation.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CISSP, CISM, or other relevant security certifications.
• Experience supporting NASA or other federal agencies.
• Knowledge of NASA-specific IT security tools and processes.

Estimated Salary: $170,000 - $195,000
