Salary Range: $150,000 – $185,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer (Lead) to provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and sustainment of cybersecurity engineering solutions for the FCC. This role serves as the engineering lead for the program, aligning enterprise infrastructure with Zero Trust principles and federal cybersecurity standards. The Senior Engineer will collaborate with FCC leadership, SOC operations, and ISSO staff to ensure secure architecture, continuous monitoring, and risk-based decision support across the FCC environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and sustainment of FCC's enterprise cybersecurity architecture, aligning with Zero Trust principles and federal security standards.
  • Engineer, configure, and integrate cybersecurity tools to support monitoring, detection, and incident response.
  • Oversee the administration, patching, upgrades, and optimization of security tools, including SIEM data integration and dashboard reporting.
  • Review engineering change requests, provide subject matter expertise to the Change Control Board, and ensure compliance with FCC security standards.
  • Direct cybersecurity infrastructure and platform operations, ensuring secure and reliable middleware, networks, and data center services.
  • Provide technical support for Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning and testing.
  • Collaborate with FCC leadership, SOC operations, and ISSOs to ensure security engineering solutions support mission objectives.
  • Document engineering activities, prepare technical reports, and contribute to FCC's continuous monitoring and compliance efforts.

What You'll Bring

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or infrastructure support for enterprise environments, preferably within federal government contracts.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain secure enterprise architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of Zero Trust principles and federal cybersecurity standards (NIST guidance).
  • Hands-on experience with tool integration, system hardening, and secure configuration management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including developing technical documentation and presenting to leadership.
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance.

Required Certifications:

  • CISSP (or ISSEP specialization)
  • Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting Change Control Boards and security engineering reviews.
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, vulnerability management tools, and secure infrastructure operations.
  • Experience supporting enterprise security engineering in federal environments, including tool integration, secure configuration, and compliance alignment.
