Employment Attorney - Defense
Compensation: $200K–$300K base salary + bonuses
Billable target: 1,900–2,000 hours
Location: Orange County, CA (primarily on-site)
A top-tier Orange County trial law firm is seeking an experienced Defense Side Employment Attorney to join its employment litigation practice. This firm is widely recognized for its courtroom excellence, record-setting verdicts, and strong mentorship culture.
This position offers meaningful ownership of cases and true trial exposure, making it ideal for an attorney who wants to be deeply involved in all aspects of employment litigation rather than siloed into research or drafting.
In this role, you will:
- Defend employers in complex employment litigation matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and PAGA class actions
- Manage cases from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trial
- Take and defend depositions of parties, percipient witnesses, and experts
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions
- Actively participate in trial preparation and courtroom proceedings, including witness preparation and strategy
- Collaborate closely with senior trial attorneys on high-stakes matters
- Develop a case strategy and provide practical risk assessments to clients
- Maintain regular communication with clients and internal litigation teams
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of employment litigation experience
- Defense-side background required
- Trial experience is a must
- Experience handling PAGA and complex employment disputes
- Strong legal writing, advocacy, and case management skills
- Active California Bar membership in good standing
