Medical Assistant Highlights
- The pay for this position is $19.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (on-site)
- Onsite position (Travel to Bellaire is required)
- This position is a Temporary assignment
- Duration: ~4 months (coverage for leave)
Responsibilities
- Support the clinical team in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care.
- Prepare for patient visits by confirming schedules, test results, and clinic requirements.
- Room patients and document key visit information (chief complaint, vitals, medication list, allergies, smoking history, etc.).
- Perform clinic procedures as competency-validated (may include hearing/vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and equipment cleaning/reprocessing).
- Stock exam rooms and clinic supplies; clean rooms appropriately between patients.
- Assist with routine and specialty procedures.
- Schedule follow-ups/referrals and complete clerical tasks (scanning, faxing, photocopying).
- Handle telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Maintain patient privacy/confidentiality (HIPAA).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program
- At least 1 year of related experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Able to work on-site in Houston, TX and travel to the Bellaire location as needed
- Able to meet physical requirements (up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
Preferred:
- Medical Assistant certification such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA
