DURATION: 12-Month Contract
PAY RATE: $14/hr
Job Overview
We are seeking a Field Technician to support telecommunications network operations, specifically fiber optic transmission systems. This role involves equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and site oversight, ensuring customer requirements and network standards are met. The technician will work closely with senior staff and contractors to maintain and repair electronic components, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in telecom infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic transmission equipment, including lightwave multiplexers, digital multiplexers, channel banks, circuit termination equipment, and DC power systems.
- Replace defective modules and track spare parts inventory.
- Perform preventative maintenance and maintain technical documentation.
- Maintain site security and cleanliness.
- Assist senior technicians in learning procedures for process and operations.
- Read and follow service orders and basic circuit diagrams.
Qualifications / Relevant Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-5 years of field experience in telecommunications or electronic equipment maintenance.
- Working knowledge of personal computers, common software, and Sonet and Ethernet systems.
- Basic ability to read circuit diagrams and service orders.
- Willingness to learn and work under supervision of senior technicians.
