Step into an engaging contract opportunity supporting high school students in an 11th/12th grade special education classroom. This position offers the chance to create a meaningful impact in an onsite educational environment, located near Corning, NY and serving the Bath/Hornell area. The assignment is slated from September 8, 2026, through approximately December 4, 2026, providing up to 12 weeks of essential classroom coverage.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid New York State Teaching License with high school endorsement
- Required certifications for an ED (Emotional Disturbance) classroom setting
- Experience working with special education students at the high school level
- Strong classroom management abilities and the ability to foster a supportive, structured learning environment
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility, empathy, and adaptability for sub/coverage settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction and support for 11th and 12th grade students in the HS ED classroom
- Develop and follow individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Adapt lessons and instructional materials to engage and support all learners
- Collaborate closely with other educators, support staff, and administrators
- Maintain accurate records and monitor student progress
- Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
This contract role offers a consistent weekday schedule of 32.5 hours per week, providing stability throughout the duration of the assignment. The onsite-only nature of this position allows for immersive classroom experiences and daily connection with students and colleagues.
