Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Home Audio/Video Install Technician to join our team. In this role, you will install, configure, and troubleshoot residential and commercial entertainment and smart home systems, ensuring clean, professional installations and an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate has experience with home theater systems, whole-home audio, television mounting, networking, and smart home integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure home theater systems, televisions, surround sound, projectors, screens, and audio equipment.
- Install and integrate whole-home audio, video distribution, and smart home automation systems.
- Mount flat-screen televisions, projectors, speakers, and other AV components while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.
- Run and terminate low-voltage wiring including HDMI, speaker wire, Cat5e/Cat6, coaxial cable, and fiber optic (when applicable).
- Configure home networks, Wi-Fi systems, streaming devices, and connected entertainment equipment.
- Program and troubleshoot universal remotes, control systems, and smart home devices.
- Test all installed equipment to ensure proper operation and customer satisfaction.
- Educate customers on system operation and answer questions regarding equipment functionality.
- Diagnose and repair existing AV and networking systems.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and inventory.
- Complete installation documentation, service reports, and job notes accurately.
- Follow company safety standards and maintain a clean work environment at customer homes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of residential audio/video installation experience preferred.
- Knowledge of home theater systems, distributed audio, networking, and smart home technology.
- Experience with TV mounting and low-voltage cable installation.
- Familiarity with brands such as Sonos, Control4, URC, Yamaha, Denon, Sony, Samsung, LG, and other AV manufacturers is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (if required).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with home automation and control systems.
- Networking knowledge including routers, switches, wireless access points, and mesh Wi-Fi systems.
- Low-voltage certification or industry certifications are a plus.
- Basic construction knowledge including drilling, fishing walls, attic and crawlspace work, and finish carpentry.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, organized installations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work with hand and power tools for extended periods.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
