The Opportunity
This Is Not a "Wrench-and-Walk-Away" Job
Alpha Inc. is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic who owns their craft end-to-end — from first inspection to final test run — and understands that uptime isn't luck, it's discipline.
This role is for mechanics who don't just fix what's broken, but anticipate failures, protect people, and keep projects moving. If you take pride in running iron that's safe, dialed-in, and ready to perform — you'll thrive here.
About Alpha Inc.
Founded and grown in Hawaiʻi, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, concrete, energy, drilling, cranes, and infrastructure solutions. We build projects that serve island communities for generations — with precision, purpose, and pride.
Everything we do is guided by three core values:
- Lead with Heart – Respect the crew, work safely, and take care of people.
- Strength in Unity – One team, one mission; operations succeed when we work together.
- Alpha Mentality – Own your work, raise the standard, and never settle for "good enough."
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you are a critical force multiplier behind every successful jobsite.
What You Will Do
You'll be trusted with keeping Alpha's fleet safe, reliable, and production-ready, including excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, loaders, haul trucks, on-highway vehicles — and the supporting equipment that keeps jobs moving.
Your responsibilities include:
- Inspecting, maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy construction equipment
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with accuracy and efficiency
- Performing preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Testing and verifying repairs to ensure full functionality and safety compliance
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Using diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex issues
- Ordering parts and coordinating repairs to keep equipment job-ready
- Ensuring all equipment meets safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Adhering strictly to safety protocols while operating equipment and tools
- Supporting the Equipment Superintendent and field operations as needed
Additional Scope (High-Value Skillset):
- Inspecting, servicing, repairing, and rebuilding small engines (e.g., generators, compact equipment, pumps, plate compactors, saws, and related support equipment)
- Diagnosing fuel, ignition, cooling, and mechanical issues on small engine systems
This is a hands-on, high-accountability role where your decisions directly affect safety, schedules, and productivity.
