Job Description
The Maintenance Crib Specialist designs, organizes, and manages the maintenance crib storage area to ensure that tools, equipment, and spare parts are readily available to support production. This role works cross-functionally to determine critical spare parts for each machine and develops processes to issue, track, maintain, and store items in a way that promotes safety, efficiency, and accountability across the factory.
Responsibilities
- Design and organize the maintenance crib storage area to ensure efficient access to tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Work cross-functionally with maintenance, production, and other teams to identify and define critical spare parts required for each machine.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive critical spares list per machine to support uninterrupted production.
- Create and manage an inventory database in Excel that includes item names, quantities, part numbers, minimum and maximum levels, vendors, and other key data.
- Perform regular inventory control activities, including cycle counts and reconciliations, to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Ensure that tools, equipment, and supplies are properly issued, tracked, and returned using established processes and documentation.
- Monitor inventory usage and order tracking to identify trends, prevent stockouts, and reduce excess inventory.
- Support the implementation and use of inventory management, tool crib, or maintenance information software where applicable.
- Maintain accurate data entry for all inventory transactions to support reporting and decision-making.
- Promote and uphold safety, organization, and cleanliness standards within the maintenance crib and surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to support timely procurement and replenishment of parts and supplies.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build and maintain an inventory database with fields such as names, quantities, part numbers, minimums, maximums, and vendors.
- Ability to navigate Excel efficiently, including filtering, sorting, and managing large data sets.
- Experience performing inventory work, including inventory control, cycle counts, and inventory management activities.
- Experience with issuing, identifying, and tracking in and out orders for parts, tools, or supplies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Ability to organize and manage a tool crib or similar inventory storage area to support production and maintenance needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a maintenance crib, tool crib, or similar environment is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with inventory management or tool crib software is a plus.
- Experience with SAP or other maintenance information databases and order tracking systems is advantageous.
- Background in parts management, tooling, and maintenance-related inventory is helpful.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a production or manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
The work environment is a well-lit, temperature-controlled facility with ample space and a mix of newer and older machines. The role is primarily floor-based, with approximately 90% of the time spent on the shop floor to stay close to the maintenance crib and production operations, complemented by access to a dedicated desk and cubicle for administrative and data work. The setting supports both hands-on interaction with equipment and focused computer-based tasks, creating a balanced and comfortable workday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin Park, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
