Role Description The Orchestra Manager is a part-time, hybrid role based in Santa Cruz, CA, with a mix of on-site work at rehearsals and performances and some work from home. This role supports the artistic and operational needs of the orchestra, including coordinating rehearsal and concert schedules, managing musician communications, and assisting with contracting and payroll documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and distributing schedules and production information, ensuring that rehearsal and performance logistics are in place, and serving as an on-site point of contact for musicians. The Orchestra Manager collaborates with artistic leadership and administrative staff on season planning, roster management, and compliance with orchestra policies. Evening and weekend hours are required in alignment with the performance calendar.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Music, with familiarity or experience in Classical Music and Orchestral Music.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with musicians and staff.
- Background or interest in Arts Administration, including scheduling, coordination, and basic organizational procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and event details.
- Experience working with performing arts organizations or ensembles is required.
- Familiarity and understanding of Union contracts.
- Comfort with Microsoft office software and digital tools for scheduling, documentation, and communication.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate respectfully with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Previous experience as an Orchestra Manager highly desired
- Availability for evening and weekend work during rehearsals and performances; reliable transportation to Santa Cruz, CA venues.
