*Hybrid position* We are looking for a litigation paralegal to join EyeCare Partners' growing legal department. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people and independently managing projects and day-to-day tasks and has experience in an in-house legal department, preferably with a background in dispute resolution, litigation, and/or healthcare.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Incident Management and General Duties
- Developing an in-depth understanding of ECP's business units and insurance policies
- Coordinate claims reporting and monitoring with carriers
- Conduct legal research and factual investigations and respond to internal inquiries regarding patient complaints, requests, and issues
- Collect incident information and provide guidance and direction to practice staff and doctors as well as senior management on incident-related matters
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Litigation, Grievances, and Subpoenas
- Responding to medical grievances from various state and governmental authorities (e.g., Attorney General Consumer Complaints, Payor Standard of Care Inquiries, State Medical Boards, Better Business Bureau, etc.)
- Review and revise draft answers, discovery requests, responses to discovery, basic motions and similar pleadings, under the direction of an attorney
- Perform administrative duties including, coordinating litigation support functions, managing case dockets, documents and files
- Managing subpoena and discovery responses, as well as coordinating provider appearances and affidavits in lieu of appearances as appropriate
- Independently analyzing and responding appropriately to escalated third party requests for medical records with support and guidance from attorneys as necessary

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork abilities, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong proficiency working with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel), SmartSheets and Adobe Acrobat; and agility to learn new software as needed
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate degree required, paralegal certificate preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience as a paralegal for a law firm or in-house legal department preferred
- Experience in case-heavy litigation support and claims management strongly preferred
- Experience in a healthcare space preferred
- Notary Public desired.
Supervisory/Responsibility:
This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports.
