Job Overview:

SAPA Transmission is seeking an experienced Zeiss CMM Operator / Programmer to support dimensional inspection and quality activities within a manufacturing environment. This role will operate and program Zeiss CMMs, perform first article, in-process, and final inspections, and apply GD&T and metrology principles to verify product conformance to engineering and customer requirements.

The role combines CMM operation and programming with hands-on dimensional inspection and quality support throughout the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Program, modify, validate, and optimize Zeiss Calypso CMM programs for production, first article inspection (FAI), in-process, and final inspection.
  • Set up and operate Zeiss CMMs and other precision inspection equipment.
  • Perform first article, in-process, final, and manual dimensional inspections.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements to develop effective inspection methods.
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing CMM programs and inspection processes to improve accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Analyze inspection results and support resolution of dimensional and quality issues.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to troubleshoot dimensional problems and support corrective and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist with Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R), process capability studies, and gage calibration activities.
  • Maintain inspection programs, records, reports, and quality documentation in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Support AS9100 and customer audit requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in Metrology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of Zeiss CMM operation and programming experience required.
  • Experience with Zeiss Calypso software required.
  • Strong blueprint reading GD&T knowledge in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with dimensional inspection and precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, and related tools.
  • Ability to interpret Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R), and basic statistical quality methods preferred.
  • Aerospace manufacturing or Aerospace Standard 9100 (AS9100) experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing environment and periodically lift up to 35 pounds.
