Role Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Detailer to support commercial Division 8 projects by producing accurate, code-compliant door, frame, and hardware submittals and shop drawings. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are detailed correctly, delivered within budget, and aligned with project schedules and specifications.
The Detailer works closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Purchasing to support project execution while identifying cost-saving opportunities and maintaining high documentation standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned DFH professional who enjoys technical work, precision, and being a go-to resource for project teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesDetailing & Submittals

Create detailed door, frame, and hardware submittals and shop drawings using Protech, spreadsheets, plans, specifications, and estimating documents

Develop complete and accurate hardware sets, including correct headings, sequencing, formatting, and hardware templating requirements

Evaluate door openings to ensure proper product selection and compliance with project specifications
Code Compliance & Standards

Ensure schedules comply with FSC policies, BAA, ADA, and applicable building codes

Apply industry standards and best practices to all detailing and scheduling activities
Scheduling & Cost Control

Complete the full scheduling process, including job costing entries and submittal revisions

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities throughout the detailing and scheduling process
Documentation & Collaboration

Organize and prepare all project documentation for Project Management job folders

Serve as a technical resource for colleagues, providing guidance on Division 8 standards and solutions

Provide cross-functional support to other departments as needed
Continuous Improvement

Stay current on industry codes, products, and manufacturers through training, seminars, and conferences

Apply newly acquired knowledge to continuously improve quality and efficiency
QualificationsExperience & Education
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction detailing, scheduling, or drafting (Division 8 preferred)

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred, not required)
Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database/scheduling software

Experience with Protech and Smartsheet preferred

Strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail

Solid mathematical skills including fractions, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of technical drawings

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Strong problem-solving and customer service mindset

Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 DOE
