Day to DayThis position is responsible for ensuring the desktop, application, data, network, security, and VoIP systems are appropriately maintained, and to support the efforts of staff, and facilitate timely and efficient delivery of IT project deliverables.
A broad understanding of the following areas is required: desktop and laptop hardware, applications support, basic networking, security, and VoIP principles and protocols, as well as the ability to respond quickly to multiple customer needs and take direction from senior staff.
Position PrioritiesThe essential priorities of this position are to be a collaborative member of Alta’s IT staff in the timely resolution of customer issues and document those efforts.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Managing and maintaining desktop, network hardware and software to ensure appropriate functionality, including working directly with Alta staff
- Contributing to the implementation and management of corporate policies and procedures regarding the use of Alta’s Information Technology systems and software products
- Maintaining appropriate and effective remote connectivity and support
- Contribute to documentation for new and known issues or processes
- Documenting efforts in an IT tracking application
- Elevate support cases to IT Systems Support Specialist II when needed
- Become involved in ongoing IT projects
QualificationsRequired
This position requires a combination of skills, experience and education including, but not limited to
- Minimum of nine (9) months of experience as an IT System Support Specialist, sysadmin, network analyst, or similar position with strong customer engagement and trouble-shooting skills
- Solid and demonstrated understanding and support of the current Windows Professional desktop operating systems (11), and Active Directory, Azure, Entra, Intune and LDAP management
- Solid and demonstrated understanding of the Microsoft 365 environment including Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive with an emphasis on internal and external sharing
- Solid and demonstrated understanding and support of network systems, and network technologies
- Solid and demonstrated understanding and support of VoIP systems
- Solid understanding and support of multifunction printers and plotters including configuration, setup, and management
- Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple, simultaneous projects, and logically perform troubleshooting tasks to arrive at effective solutions
- Work as a contributing member of a group, and individually, when necessary, with a strong sense of accountability and good decision-making skills
- Use best practices regarding IT systems and data security
- Maintain integrity and confidentiality regarding internal Alta data
- Proven interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to Alta offices throughout the US
- Ability to lift 30lbs (14Kg), and occasionally work in confined spaces such as under desks or within cramped telco-rooms
There are a number of additional skills, experience, and education that would be beneficial to this position including, but not limited to:
- Solid and demonstrated understanding of enterprise sync and share applications such as Windows Azure, Intune, and Egnyte,
- Solid and demonstrated understanding of DNS and DHCP concepts and troubleshooting
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications
- Ability to work with non-technical customers and explain complex technical concepts in ways that will be understood
- An associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science or a related field of study, or two (2) years of IT industry experience

- Adobe Creative Cloud applications
- Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D
- ArcGIS and/or QGIS
- Trimble SketchUp
- Google Earth
- Synchro/SimTraffic

CompensationThe pay range for this job in Atlanta is $55,000-$63,000 annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill-sets, and qualifications.
