Corporate Controller – Mortgage / Financial Services
Irvine, CA | Full-Time | Exempt
Compensation: $150,000 – $170,000 base + bonus

About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established financial services organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can own the close, strengthen controls, and deliver the financial insight that drives strategic decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the corporate accounting team and oversee timely, accurate monthly internal and external financial statements, annual audits, and budgets
  • Manage accounts receivable operations, including billings, cash receipts application, and aging
  • Own corporate income tax compliance, including state and local filings
  • Design and maintain systems and internal controls that protect data integrity and support scalable growth
  • Drive cash forecasting and cash management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Partner with the CFO on financial analysis, special projects, and ad hoc reporting
  • Supervise, develop, and manage the performance of accounting staff

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Mortgage industry experience (required)
  • Progressive accounting leadership experience, including ownership of the month-end close
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial/regulatory reporting experience
  • Experience managing high-volume AP and AR transactions
  • Proven track record managing audit relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and a high standard of ethics and credibility

Preferred

  • Active CPA (California)
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience
