Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Field Service Mechanic to join our client's team in Midland, TX. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and machinery in the field to minimize downtime and ensure safe, reliable operation. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on heavy equipment and machinery in the field.
- Inspect, service, and adjust hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Respond to emergency service calls to resolve equipment failures in a timely manner.
- Document all work performed, parts used, and time spent on service orders.
- Operate service vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and other team members to identify repair needs and prioritize service requests.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry standards at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience as a field service mechanic, equipment technician, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in outdoor and field environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and work in physically demanding environments.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Availability for overtime, weekends, and on-call work as needed.
