Job Title: Senior Emerson DeltaV DCS Engineer
Location: Louisiana, MO
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay Range: $90,000-$120,000/year
Senior Emerson DeltaV DCS Engineer
USPRO is seeking an experienced Emerson DeltaV DCS Engineer to support a global leader in industrial manufacturing and commercial explosives technology.
This is a hands-on plant-support position responsible for maintaining, administering, troubleshooting and improving an established DeltaV environment. The engineer will also support a planned migration from DeltaV Version 14.3.1 to Version 16.
Mandatory DeltaV Experience
Recent, hands-on Emerson DeltaV experience in a live industrial production environment is required.
Candidates whose experience is limited to Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, PLC programming, automotive manufacturing, conveyors, or warehouse automation will not qualify. Listing DeltaV in a skills section without corresponding work experience is not sufficient.
The position is approximately 60% workstation-based engineering and system administration and 40% plant-floor troubleshooting and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the Emerson DeltaV DCS supporting active plant operations.
- Support the DeltaV 14.3.1-to-16 migration, including planning, testing, implementation, and validation.
- Perform DeltaV lifecycle and system-administration activities, including firmware, software patches, security updates, user access, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Configure and maintain control modules, control strategies, operator graphics, alarms, trends, event logs and historical data.
- Develop and maintain control narratives, loop specifications, logic block diagrams, SAMA diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Analyze and tune process-control loops using Emerson Insight or comparable diagnostic tools.
- Use ValveLink and related tools to evaluate control valves and improve equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot DCS, instrumentation, networking, and control issues affecting live production.
- Partner with E&I technicians and contractors on maintenance, outages and system improvements.
- Support alarm rationalization, preventive maintenance, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years of industrial automation or process-control experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on Emerson DeltaV experience in an operating production environment.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting DeltaV control modules, graphics, alarms, trends and process-control loops.
- Experience in chemical processing, refining, mining, industrial manufacturing or another continuous-process environment.
- Experience supporting control-system upgrades, maintenance or lifecycle activities.
- Working knowledge of industrial instrumentation, control valves, HMIs and industrial networks.
- Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems, ISA-84 and IEC 61511.
- Experience with SQL Server, Microsoft Access, historians or industrial data-management systems.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and develop control narratives and logic documentation.
- Strong communication skills across operations, maintenance, engineering and contractor teams.
- Associate’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
Military experience may substitute for certain education or general experience requirements but cannot replace the required hands-on DeltaV experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- DeltaV version-upgrade or migration experience
- Experience with DeltaV Versions 14 or 16
- Emerson Insight and ValveLink experience
- Alarm rationalization and control-loop optimization
- DeltaV system-administration experience
- Chemical, explosives, refining or process-plant experience
- Experience coordinating E&I technicians and controls contractors
