The Technical Project Manager acts as the linchpin for our consulting work at Data Society Group, partnering closely with both clients and the internal tech team to ensure timely, quality project delivery. This role will support the development of client solutions, scheduling and advocating for identified necessary resources, assessment of client readiness, and tracking both pre- and post-delivery timelines and outcomes. The ideal candidate thrives on detail-oriented work and doesn’t just follow current processes or systems, but helps evolve our processes to solve the unique needs of each client.

As this position will help support federal contracts with security requirements, you must be a US Citizen able to work on site at clients in DC. This is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management & Client Communication

  • Create and manage meetings, including client meetings and tech standups (using the Scrum framework) disseminating meeting links, transcription of notes, and occasionally supporting work.
  • Partner closely with the Sales team to ensure client satisfaction and share information allowing them to capitalize on new opportunities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders inside and outside the organization and identify critical paths well in advance to preserve the project timeline.
  • Ensure transparency with clients and internal teams through content preparation, brief writing, and owning the accuracy of Jira boards.
  • Write content, prepare briefs, conduct discovery interviews, create marketing segments, and participate in pitches to senior external stakeholders.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Support and collaborate with the project team to meet workflow, creation timetables, and deliverables.
  • Determine and define technical project scope and objectives for deliverables.
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and allocate resources in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Work with team leaders to prepare and manage a budget based on scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan which can be used to measure successful outcomes.
  • Communicates status/issues to client and Data Society executives on a weekly basis.
  • Proactively manages project risks, issues and budgets and make critical decisions to meet overall scope, budget and objectives of the project.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement, driving agile performance that is able to respond mid-process to the needs of clients while preventing scope creep.
  • Reviews interim and final deliverables for content and quality.

Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 3 years experience managing large projects with heavy client communications in a project management or project support role, ideally for data & AI projects.
  • Excellent time management & project organization skills with an extreme attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with SCRUM and Agile methodologies (ideally has been a SCRUM master or project owner).
  • Expert level usage of project management tools such as Jira.
  • Plus: experience working with the federal government with a level of public trust clearance.
  • Plus: technical background in data analysis, BI, development or data science to help this role better understand and communicate requirements and demos.
