JOB DUTIES
A Network Cabling Technician may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classification NI (Network Installer) in addition to the following:
- Lays out work and preps materials for installation
- Performs overhead and underground layout and rough-in
- Terminates all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6
- Measures, cuts, bends, assembles, and installs cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools
- Assembles and installs relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields, and associated components
- Performs fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types
- Performs structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints
- Correctly sets up and operates copper and fiber optic testing equipment
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems in structured cabling systems
- Operates hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks
- Performs other project-related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor
- Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: MUST have 3 or more years of on-the-job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Network Cabling Technician level
- Technical Knowledge:

- Basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills
- Understanding of basic communications theory and its application to installations
- Proficiency in copper and fiber optic cable termination and testing
- Work Requirements: Must be able to work occasional overtime as required
- License: Current Driver's License and must have own reliable transportation
- Education: High School Graduate, GED or equivalent
