Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting a high school student in a Life Skills program as a 1:1 paraprofessional on a contract basis. This assignment runs from August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and offers a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The student you’ll assist is on the autism spectrum and requires increased support to remain in the classroom and building, especially when daily routines are disrupted. Your dedication will help foster confidence, routine, and a safe learning environment.

You’ll work primarily from 7:15am to 3pm, though these hours may adjust in the future. This role is ideal for someone with previous school-based experience, especially those comfortable supporting students with maximum behavioral needs.

Desired Qualifications:

Previous experience as a paraprofessional or teaching assistant in a school setting
Proven ability to work effectively one-on-one with students, particularly those with autism
Familiarity supporting students in Life Skills or special education programs
Strong comfort level with behavioral interventions and strategies
Excellent communication skills with teachers, staff, and families
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in routine, remaining calm and proactive
Commitment to ensuring student safety and inclusion

Key Responsibilities:

Provide consistent, compassionate 1:1 support to a high school student
Assist in maintaining routines and minimizing disruptive behaviors
Work closely with the Life Skills teacher and educational team
Help implement behavior support plans and de-escalate challenges as needed
Support the student’s participation in classroom and school activities
Maintain appropriate documentation and communicate progress regularly
