Labor & Employment Associate Attorney (Mid-Level)
Locations: Los Angeles or San Francisco, California
Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Labor & Employment Associate to join the Labor & Employment practice of a leading Am Law firm in either Los Angeles or San Francisco. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with strong California employment litigation experience who is interested in working on complex matters in a collaborative and dynamic practice.
The role provides the opportunity to manage employment disputes in both state and federal courts while working closely with experienced attorneys on sophisticated litigation matters.
Responsibilities

Handle a variety of employment litigation matters in California state and federal courts

Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents

Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy

Manage case development and litigation strategy, including coordinating discovery and case deadlines

Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation

Communicate with clients regarding case developments and strategic considerations

Collaborate with attorneys and litigation teams to ensure efficient case management and successful outcomes
Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of California employment litigation experience

Experience managing matters in California state and federal courts

Strong case management and legal research skills

Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication abilities

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

Active admission to the California Bar
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers competitive compensation consistent with top Am Law market rates, with an anticipated salary range of approximately $250,000–$375,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
