POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Business Development plays a critical role in shaping the future of Prosperity Now’s strategic funding partnerships. This position leads efforts to secure and grow revenue from institutional sources, including corporate, philanthropic, and public sector partners, with a focus on initiatives that connect innovation with community outcomes.
This is a high-ownership, externally facing role suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, is comfortable navigating ambiguity, and brings a structured, strategic approach to building relationships and securing resources. The portfolio is dynamic and flexible, evolving alongside emerging opportunities in areas such as digital tools, inclusive capital, and economic resilience.
You will work closely with senior leadership to translate Prosperity Now’s assets, such as data, policy insight, community relationships, and field expertise, into compelling partnership opportunities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building from scratch, driving strategy, and bringing forward-looking ideas to life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Revenue Growth and Pipeline Strategy
- Lead the design and execution of a cross-sector business development strategy that expands institutional revenue and aligns with organizational goals.
- Identify, qualify, and steward a robust pipeline of funding opportunities across corporate, philanthropic, and public sector audiences.
- Develop tailored proposals, concept notes, presentations, and funder collateral that reflect a clear understanding of partner priorities and organizational value.
Strategic Partnerships and Value Alignment
- Cultivate and manage funder relationships, ensuring a high standard of responsiveness, alignment, and long-term engagement.
- Develop structured opportunities for partner engagement, such as briefings, convenings, and insight sharing, that reinforce shared goals and deepen collaboration.
- Translate organizational initiatives into investment-ready opportunities by leveraging Prosperity Now’s data, programs, and national network.
Internal Collaboration and Knowledge Management
- Partner with program, finance, and data teams to ensure proposals are accurate, feasible, and aligned with strategic priorities.
- Maintain complete and current records in Salesforce to support decision-making, forecasting, and pipeline visibility.
- Serve as a thought partner across the development team and contribute to shared systems, templates, and strategy development.
Proposal Development and Execution
- Lead proposal development from start to finish, including scoping, content creation, budgeting coordination, and submission, for priority institutional opportunities.
- Support grant compliance processes and coordination with internal teams post-award, as needed.
- Monitor and assess performance against revenue goals, adjusting approach based on results and market shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, with an advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, corporate partnerships, or institutional fundraising in a mission-driven or client-focused setting.
- Demonstrated success securing and managing six- or seven-figure funding relationships across sectors.
- Experience translating technical or complex concepts into compelling, outcomes-focused language.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Salesforce or a similar CRM system for pipeline tracking and data reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and audience awareness.
- High level of initiative, follow-through, and comfort navigating uncertainty or shifting priorities.
- Strong commitment to advancing practical solutions that improve economic outcomes for individuals and communities.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Work Environment and Travel: This job operates in a remote environment. Staff in the local DMV area will be required to attend the monthly Staff meeting, planning meetings and retreats. Periodic travel may be required to conferences and meetings. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Salary Range: The salary for this position is $91,200 to $136,800 per year, with a midpoint of $114,000.
