Level: Management

Type of Position: Full-time - Salary / Exempt

Hours: 40 /week

Baldwin Supply distributes mechanical power transmission products, conveyor belts, and electrical control and automation products across the Upper Midwest. It serves a variety of industries, such as agriculture, food packaging, and mining, and provides services like belt fabrication and motor repair.

Job Summary:

The Director of Software and Technology is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s technology strategy and infrastructure to support reliable operations across field service, manufacturing, and corporate functions. This role ensures secure, efficient, and scalable technology systems that enable the business to become more productive while supporting business growth in a secure environment. The ideal candidate brings both hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership, with experience supporting industrial or utility-focused environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workload of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the company’s IT roadmap aligned with business objectives, operational reliability, and future growth.
  • Operation Management: Overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and support of all IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and end-user devices.
  • Team Leadership: Managing, mentoring, and recruiting IT staff (managers, analysts, technicians, developers), fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance: Establishing and enforcing robust security policies and protocols, managing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Identify technology opportunities that improve productivity, reduce downtime, and enhance customer experience.
  • Manage IT budgets, vendors, and capital planning.
  • Lead IT-related projects, including system upgrades, integrations, M&A onboarding, hardware refresh cycles, and cloud migrations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and service providers to maintain service levels and deliver solutions on time and on budget.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize and optimize IT systems, applications, and workflows through the use of technology and AI.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, preferably within industrial, manufacturing, utility, or distribution environments.
  • 5+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Deep understanding of computer systems, networks, security. cloud platforms, and software development methodologies.

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions:

  • Deskwork
  • Travel to branches and attend ERP and other IT-related conferences.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
