The Deli Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of deli operations, including food preparation, inventory control, customer service, staff management, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This role requires strong leadership skills and a passion for providing excellent service and high-quality products.Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Supervise, train, and schedule deli staff, ensuring high standards of performance, efficiency, and customer service. Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer guidance as needed.
- Inventory & Ordering: Manage inventory levels, place orders with suppliers, and ensure products are stocked and rotated according to safety and quality standards. Monitor and maintain the freshness of deli meats, cheeses, and other items.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, helping customers with product selection, answering questions, and resolving issues or concerns promptly. Maintain a friendly, approachable attitude at all times.
- Food Preparation: Oversee food preparation, ensuring all items are prepared fresh, according to established recipes and quality standards. Ensure portion control and product consistency.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain a clean and organized deli area, including countertops, equipment, and storage areas.
- Sales & Promotions: Assist in driving sales by recommending products, promoting specials, and encouraging repeat business. Ensure that the deli section is well-merchandised and appealing to customers.
- Budget & Financial Oversight: Help with managing the deli's budget, control costs, and ensure profitability. Track waste and implement strategies to minimize loss.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in deli management.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on creating a positive shopping experience.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Ability to manage inventory and place orders efficiently.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and cost control in a retail environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
