ComForCare Home Health Care (North San Diego) is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support individuals with high functioning intellectual disabilities in living their best lives. Responsibilities:
- Providing companionship and engaging activities
- Using positive, person-centered behavioral support
- Helping schedule and manage appointments
- Assist clients with in daily living activities and community integration
- Implement individualized care plans and document client progress and observations
- Encourage client independence and skill development through positive reinforcement
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and recreational activities
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, family members, and care team members regarding client needs
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a PCA, DSP (Direct Support Professional), caregiver, or in a related role preferred
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) strongly preferred
- Genuine patience, empathy, and a person-centered approach to care
- Ability to pass a background check and meet state compliance requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus
