Typical Duties
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
- Use diagnostic software and tools
- Test vehicles after repairs
- Maintain service records and comply with safety regulations
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Physical stamina and hand-tool proficiency
- High school diploma or GED
Auto mechanic repairs and maintains passenger vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and light trucks.

- Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and brake service
- Diagnose engine and electrical issues
- Repair vehicle systems including suspension, cooling, and exhaust
- Conduct inspections and emissions testing
- Explain repairs to customers
- Keep accurate repair documentation
