Duration:12-month contract, with possible extension

The DNA Group is seeking a Senior Data Analyst, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data across various systems within the organization. This role involves conducting thorough data analysis to identify trends and discrepancies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address data needs and enhance data management practices. The work includes development and maintenance of consulting relationships with multiple agencies; project planning; coordination of multiple projects; problem identification; and development of alternative solutions. The complexity of the work is compounded by the need to respond rapidly to agency business problems in alignment with Federal or District regulations.

Overview Requirements:

• Interfaces with high-level stakeholders to manage data projects, gather and document requirements, and collect sample data to ensure data quality.

• Works with District agency resources to analyze, compile, verify, and query data; develops complex SQL queries and creates metadata and data dictionaries.

• Designs and documents methods for implementing new database systems; creates reports using SQL and BI tools.

• Develops and administers data standards, policies, and procedures; establishes new standards, methods, and techniques.

• Creates scripts to identify and correct data inconsistencies, leveraging SQL extensively.

• Troubleshoots problems in the input, retrieval, or modification of database information and the operation of enterprise data systems.

• Operates and maintains Business Intelligence systems and performs complex data analyses including validation and error correction.

• Coordinates activities with the project manager throughout the SDLC, including design, development, and testing.

• Keeps abreast of current database management concepts, trends, and techniques.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.

• Experience gathering and documenting requirements and working with stakeholders across all project phases.

• Ability to analyze, verify, and query data for warehousing and reporting needs, including development of complex SQL queries.

• Experience designing database system implementation methods and building reports using SQL and business intelligence tools.

• Ability to develop and administer data standards, policies, procedures, and methods.

• Experience troubleshooting data input, retrieval, modification, and enterprise data system operations.

• Ability to perform complex data analyses, validate data, identify inconsistencies, and evaluate the impacts of technological changes.

• Experience coordinating work across the SDLC with project managers and technical teams.

• Ability to stay current with trends, concepts, and developments in database management.

Required Experience:

• Bachelors degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience (Required)

• Extensive knowledge of a wide range of IT standards, principles, concepts, methods, policies, system testing principles and methods: 16 years (Required)

• Knowledge of authorized system approaches for IT pertinent to databases management: 16 years (Required)

• Extensive knowledge of and skill in applying analytical methods and practices, and requirement analysis principles and methods: 16 years (Required)

• Extensive knowledge in working with relational database technologies: 16 years (Required)

• Extensive knowledge in creating metadata/data dictionaries; designing and implementing reports: 10 years (Required)

• Extensive knowledge creating database views used for establishing live data feeds and developing data-driven dashboards: 10 years (Required)

• Extensive knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), as well as managing small IT projects with minimal oversight: 15 years (Required)

• Extensive knowledge of data warehousing concepts; and extensive knowledge in working with data architects in designing database schemas: 15 years (Required)

• Knowledge of BI systems operations and maintenance: 10 years (Required)

• Expert knowledge of and skill in applying oral and written communication techniques; and in evaluating and reporting on accomplishments: 10 years (Required)

• Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and effectively when dealing with various technical and non-technical audiences: 10 years (Required)
