Job Description
SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly experienced CNC Machinist to support precision prototype and production machining within a quality-driven manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on machinist who can independently take a component from print or 3D model through programming, setup, machining, and in-process inspection.
The position supports complex aerospace-grade components requiring tight tolerances, advanced machining strategies, and close collaboration with engineering and quality teams. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity offering strong compensation, stability, and comprehensive benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings and 3D models to manufacture precision components from concept to completion
- Develop manufacturing process plans in partnership with engineering, including material selection, tooling strategy, and fixture design
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs using Mastercam and directly at the machine (G-code/M-code)
- Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling centers
- Set up and run CNC lathes with live tooling, C-axis capability, twin turrets, twin spindles, and bar feeders
- Design and fabricate custom fixtures using 3D modeling tools when required
- Select, assemble, and install appropriate tooling for prototype and short-run production jobs
- Maintain tight tolerances on high-precision components
- Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, and related equipment
- Coordinate with metrology for CMM validation and final quality checks
- Provide input to engineering teams on manufacturability and design optimization
- Assist with cost estimation worksheets, precision assembly, or inspection tasks as needed
- Maintain clear communication with project leads and cross-functional team members
- Set up and break down machinery while maintaining a clean, organized work area
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of CNC machining experience in programming and setup (10+ years preferred)
- Strong background operating both CNC mills and turning centers
- Experience programming with Mastercam (Fusion 360 or GibbsCam experience considered)
- Ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot machine code at the controller
- Thorough understanding of GD&T and complex blueprint interpretation
- Experience working from prints and/or 3D models
- Fixture design experience using 3D modeling software
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve machining or programming issues
- Experience holding tight tolerances in precision manufacturing environments
- Wire EDM experience preferred but not required
- High school diploma required; technical training or machining degree preferred
- Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail
- Organized, self-directed, and capable of working independently
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
BENEFITS
- 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting
- Employer-paid medical coverage for single enrollment (plus dental and vision options)
- Paid vacation and sick time
- 9 paid holidays plus 2 additional flex days
- Stable, full-time onsite schedule (Monday–Friday)
- Opportunity to work on highly technical, precision-driven projects in a clean, quality-focused manufacturing environment
- Direct collaboration with engineering on prototype development and advanced machining projects
- Long-term career stability within a regulated, high-standard industry
