Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant
Location: New York City (On-site)
Salary: Around $60,000–$70,000
Start Date: ASAP
Our client, a well-established mid-sized law firm in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join its litigation team. This role is open due to the previous Legal Assistant departing on excellent terms to attend law school. The team is looking for a confident, detail-oriented professional who can step in and provide immediate support.
The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support commercial and real estate litigation attorneys from pre-litigation through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and filing documents in state and federal courts
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including predicate notices, pleadings, and professional correspondence
- Gather, review, organize, and manage voluminous documents and case materials
- Maintain and manage electronic and physical case files in accordance with firm procedures
- Track deadlines and maintain accurate litigation calendars to ensure compliance with court rules
- Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, courts, and external parties
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, court appearances, hearings, and depositions
- Perform general administrative duties, including document filing, data entry, word processing, and file organization
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant (required)
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures and court filings
- Ability to work independently with confidence and sound judgment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
