Job DescriptionDescription:
• Primarily responsible for campers assigned to cabin.
• Help campers adjust to camp life and develop friendships. Encourage inclusion and participation in activities among cabin group.
• Develop "Big Brother/Big Sister" relationship with campers.
• Organize (with camper involvement) cabin life, i.e. housekeeping and other cabin activities.
• Communicate and reinforce camp safety and health rules to cabin group. Be alert for any signs of fatigue or illness and report these to the camp nurse in a timely manner.
• Exhibit high standards of behavior. Be an example to campers and other staff.
• Work with enthusiasm and creativity. Have a positive attitude toward all camp activities.
• Participate with cabin group in all-camp activities.
• Make sure cabin group is supervised at all times.
• Lead cabin devotions, lead/assist with program activities as necessary.
• Assist in keeping camp clean and orderly. No destructive behavior.
• Actively participate in camp staff meetings.
• Help CIT become a better leader. Allow them areas of responsibility.
Requirements:
• Must hold basic Catholic Christian values and live a lifestyle reflecting those values.
• Must recognize position as role model and refrain from actions/habits which diminish that role (i.e. drinking, smoking, illegal drug use, foul language, etc.).
• Must understand and like young people and enjoy the outdoors.
• Previous summer camp experience a plus.
• By the start of camp, must be a High School graduate and (at least) age 18+.
• Must successfully complete Diocesan Camp Staff Training.
