One of our clients in Fort Meade, MD needs a Connectivity Engineer (Skill Level 3) for a contract position.
- Position: Connectivity Engineer (Skill Level 3)
- Location: Fort Meade, MD
- Clearance: TS/SCI with FSP (Maryland Clearance)
- Travel: 10%
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and sustain WAN, CAN, DCN, and network security systems.
- Troubleshoot network issues, optimize configurations, and analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic time, speeds, packet sizes).
- Implement solutions for server requirements such as load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, and NAT.
- Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput.
- Conduct site surveys, installations, and configuration management for a global Enterprise Network.
- Perform pre and post-deployment tests, security evaluations, and ensure adherence to government standards.
- Lead and manage large-scale efforts with dynamic requirements.
- Work with system engineers and cross-functional teams to refine network requirements.
- Optimize system performance and dataflow management across various front-end and back-end components.
- Design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain network devices (VPN, VRF, VSS, BGP, OSPF routing, VLAN).
- Facilitate fault-tolerant, scalable network topologies for WAN and LAN design.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in network engineering or similar roles.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or 4 additional years of network engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- Certifications:
- IAT level III certification (or IAT II with plans to obtain IAT III).
- CCNP certification or higher.
- ITIL v3 Foundations.
Specialized Experience:
- 12 years experience in Networking (WAN/CAN/DCN/NETSEC).
- 7 years experience in operations and maintenance of DoD secure WANs.
- 3 years experience in operating and maintaining service provider MPLS WANs.
- 1 year experience in maintaining agency external boundaries (peering points).
- Experience in network test, evaluation, and monitoring.
