We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced Firmware Software Engineers with strong backgrounds in embedded systems, low-level firmware development, and hardware-software integration for advanced device platforms.
This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on structured technical workflows, firmware development, technical evaluation, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their firmware engineering expertise to develop low-level software for custom hardware platforms, integrate sensors and peripheral interfaces, follow technical instructions with precision, and contribute to high-quality technical deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Professionals in this role may contribute to:
Firmware Development & Embedded Systems Engineering
- Develop firmware for custom SoC platforms and embedded systems
- Design and implement bootloaders and low-level firmware components
- Develop test applications to interact with hardware peripherals
Hardware Integration & Driver Development
- Integrate image sensors with microcontroller units (MCUs)
- Develop drivers and firmware interfaces for hardware acceleration blocks
- Implement firmware for sensors including IMUs, barometers, and magnetometers
Testing, Troubleshooting & Technical Quality
- Test firmware directly on hardware and troubleshoot system issues
- Document system architecture and conduct performance analysis
- Help maintain strong technical quality across firmware development and validation workflows
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- 8+ years of firmware or embedded software development experience
- Strong programming skills in C/C++
- Experience developing camera sensor drivers for integrated circuits
- Experience building firmware for multi-core SoCs or MCUs
- Experience working with RTOS environments such as Zephyr OS, Embedded Linux, or other real-time operating systems
- Ability to work autonomously in fast-moving hardware development environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with MIPI C-PHY and advanced image sensor interfaces
- Experience with communication protocols such as I3C, SPI, UART, and USB
- Experience developing Embedded Linux kernel drivers
- Experience with bootloaders and file systems for embedded systems
- Experience optimizing low-power embedded devices

Contract Details
