Overhead Crane Service Technician (Field-Based with Occasional Travel)

We are seeking a skilled Overhead Crane Service Technician to support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of industrial lifting equipment in a fast-paced material handling environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional experienced in electro-mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and field service operations. Occasional short-term travel may be required to support customer sites and project demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections in accordance with OSHA and industry standards
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including motors, controls, VFDs, and wiring
  • Maintain and service mechanical components such as gearboxes, brakes, bearings, and rigging equipment
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to complete service tasks efficiently
  • Provide on-site field service support at industrial facilities, warehouses, and manufacturing plants
  • Complete accurate service reports, documentation, and communicate findings to clients and internal teams
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company standards
  • Support installation and commissioning of new crane systems when required
  • Travel occasionally for short-term assignments to support regional service needs

Qualifications:

  • Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, or industrial equipment maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, motor controls, and industrial automation is a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Experience working in field service or industrial environments
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
