Job Description
Responsibilities include leading the maintenance team, directing capital projects, new product development, process engineering activities, and facility related technical challenges. This position will interact with management staff and hourly employees at the facility on a daily basis. The position reports to the Director of Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide maintenance leadership
Lead and direct maintenance personnel on a daily basis
Conduct an effective preventive and predictive maintenance program
Prioritize maintenance activities that support plant success
Establish and maintain appropriate equipment/parts/maintenance supply inventories
Establish and work to improve on machine uptime metrics
Responsible for staffing, training, and discipline of maintenance department personnel. Direct capital projects:
Prioritize, prepare, and track capital budget spending
Justify capital spending projects to achieve plant/corporation goals
Direct the installation of new production equipment
Solicit bids/quotes and recommend best alternatives
Direct vendors to complete capital projects on time and within budget parameters. Provide process engineering leadership:
Work with production team to resolve process and product quality issues
Provide hands-on troubleshooting as needed.
Lead efforts to continuously improve costs, production rates, and quality
Prioritize and provide resources to correct safety issues.
Work with HR to provide specialized maintenance safety training
Serve as a safety resource for the management team. Support facility maintenance
Responsible for the physical facility assets and maintenance
Maintain and improve the building structure
Maintain equipment and building prints / records
Follow food safety procedures and “clean zone” policies.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities “KSA”)
· 5+ years’ experience of progressive responsibility in manufacturing environments, specifically with plant maintenance activities
· 5+ years’ experience in positions of people and functional management
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or other relevant field preferred
· A combination of education and experience
· Experience with plastics and extrusion activities
· Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proven success driving and delivering business results
· High impact leadership and accountability
· Proven experience working in a fast-paced, high energy environment, managing multiple shifts and manufacturing staff
· Aptitude for computer technology preferred – experience with MS or Google Suites a plus
· Ability to work at the Tukwila, WA facility
· Knowledge of plastic processing
· Understanding and involvement with a previously successful preventive maintenance program and effective safety program.
· Ability to work with and direct hourly employees
· Experience using AutoCAD or SolidWorks CAD, and Microsoft Office.
