Chick Floor Hatchery Lead is to monitor daily operations for chick processing, including grading, vaccination,and packing. This role involves monitoring a team, ensuring quality control, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating with hatchery management to fulfill orders and manage the chick flow. The position requires a leader who can ensure the team follows standard operating procedures and maintain high standards for biosecurity and animal welfare.

  • Supervise staff: Assign tasks, train employees, and ensure they adhere to all hatchery protocols and safety measures.
  • Manage chick processing: Oversee the process of grading chicks, mixing and administering vaccines, and packing them for shipment.
  • Maintain quality and accuracy: Ensure the correct count, flock, and vaccination program is fulfilled for each order. Minimize errors in paperwork and processing.
  • Coordinate logistics: Manage the "flow of work" and keep accurate inventory of chicks. Track flocks as they move through the hatchery process.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment: Ensure all areas, including equipment and the "chick room," are properly cleaned and sanitized to meet biosecurity standards.
  • Handle equipment: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on hatchery equipment.
  • Reporting: Complete hatchery paperwork and prepare production reports.
  • Physical demands: Ability to work in hot, wet, and dusty conditions, and have the stamina to handle physical tasks like pushing carts and lifting, as noted in some job descriptions.
    • Qualifications
    • Experience in hatchery operations or poultry production.
    • Knowledge of hatchery equipment and chick processing.
    • Leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
