- Conduct Client Interviews: Speak compassionately and professionally with clients or family members to clarify or expand on exposure details.
- Draft Exposure Affidavits: Write compelling and legally sound asbestos exposure affidavits based on interviews, records, and known occupational exposures.
- Tailor for Each Trust: Understand variations in affidavit requirements among different asbestos bankruptcy trusts and draft accordingly.
- Collaborate with Legal Staff: Work closely with attorneys, case managers, and medical records teams to gather information and revise drafts as needed.
- Meet Deadlines: Prioritize and manage multiple affidavits simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and empathy.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with lung cancer cases or asbestos-related personal injury claims is strongly preferred.
- Strong writing and research skills with the ability to transform technical and personal histories into clear legal documents
- Comfort conducting sensitive, sometimes emotional, interviews with clients and/or their families
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple cases
- Legal, medical-legal, or claims-based background is a plus
- Prior experience with asbestos trust fund work is a major plus
