Job DescriptionABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is looking for an Assistant Engineer.
The Assistant Engineer provides assistance with various maintenance projects including operating, maintaining, and inspecting facility equipment in accordance with written, posted and industry standards. Performs regular inspections and reports findings with recommendations to management.

The Company will make exceptions for medical, sincerely held religious belief, or other legally required exceptions. Key Responsibilities - Facilities Operations

  • Perform and oversee maintenance and repairs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems.
  • Complete and document work orders, preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment logs.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure proper use of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and long‑term equipment planning.


Team Support & Communication

  • Train and support maintenance staff; promote teamwork and a professional environment.
  • Communicate effectively with property management, tenants, and internal teams.
  • Support safety programs and ensure compliance with building codes and internal procedures.


General Building Support

  • Perform custodial, grounds, or seasonal tasks as needed (e.g., snow removal, common area upkeep).
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Conduct move‑in/move‑out inspections and support unit turnover processes.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in building maintenance or engineering operations (commercial or residential).
  • EPA Certification for refrigerant handling required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, coaching, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and building automation systems.
  • Preferred: BOMA coursework, Fire Safety Director, Haz‑Mat, Indoor Air Quality, or LEED certifications.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders/stairs, reaching, pushing/pulling, and handling tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials as required for maintenance tasks.

Pay: $45.00 – $65.00 The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
