Established (50+ Years) Premier Firm Seeking Construction Law Associate for Construction Litigation and Contracts in Albany, NY
An established firm based in Albany with over 50 years in practice is seeking a Construction Law Associate or Junior Partner with at least 4 years of experience to join their team on a hybrid basis. This Attorney will have experience with construction law, including litigation and contract drafting and negotiation, ensuring effective representation of owners, contractors, subcontractors, and other construction industry participants in disputes and transactional matters. Offer:
Salary range: $130,000-$185,000, contingent on experience and level

The candidate must be a licensed attorney in good standing, preferably admitted to practice in New York or eligible for admission by waiver.
The candidate must have at least four years of experience in construction law, with a focus on litigation and contract drafting and negotiation.
The candidate must have experience representing parties in construction disputes, including breach of contract, delay claims, defects, change orders, and related issues.
The candidate must have experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, and related project documents.
The candidate must be familiar with common construction contract forms and project delivery methods.
The candidate must have strong litigation skills, including legal research, motion practice, discovery, and, preferably, deposition or hearing experience.
The candidate must have excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively.
The candidate at the junior partner level must demonstrate the ability to manage matters independently and should have some history of client development or interest in building a practice.
The candidate must be organized, responsive, and able to manage multiple active matters, deadlines, and client expectations.
The candidate must demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to client service and collaborative teamwork. Responsibilities:
The attorney will represent clients in construction-related disputes in state and federal courts and, where applicable, arbitration and mediation forums.
The attorney will handle all phases of litigation as appropriate to experience level, including pleadings, motion practice, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.
The attorney will draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and related project documents.
The attorney will advise clients on risk allocation, project delivery structures, and contract terms designed to minimize disputes and protect client interests.
The attorney will conduct factual investigations, work with project documents, and collaborate with experts in areas such as scheduling, cost, or engineering.
The attorney will prepare and respond to claims involving delays, extra work, defects, changes in scope, and termination.
The attorney will communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, evaluate risks, and develop strategy consistent with business objectives.
The attorney will collaborate with colleagues in related practice areas, such as real estate, commercial litigation, and insurance, where matters overlap.
