General Summary: Under the supervision of the Facility Administrator, this position is responsible for providing maintenance support to all SCFHC’s locations, including continuous monitoring of facility appearance and operations. The Maintenance and Janitorial Technician is responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and general upkeep of facilities, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional environment for all occupants and visitors. This role combines janitorial duties with basic maintenance and repair tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Maintain an organized and stocked janitorial and maintenance supply area.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and office/clinical supplies, either manually or using hand trucks.
- Notify the manager concerning the need for all repairs or additions to the building's operating systems.
- Requisition of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Assist with janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning floors and carpets.
- Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Perform minor repairs, such as plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC filter changes.
- Maintain exterior of the facility, including landscaping, trash, and debris cleanup as needed. Maintaining walkways, ensuring they are clear of debris.
- Remove trash from the Clinic facilities and transport waste to the disposal area.
- Work in a manner that will cause the least amount of disturbance to the patients, while observing patient privacy and requests Landscape by planting/removal of flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes, and watering.
- Trim shrubs, trees, and pull weeds. Mow, rake, mulch, trim, and prune the grounds as needed.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours, and report safety hazards to your supervisor.
- Safely use materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment in order to avoid waste, unnecessary damage, or accidents.
- Follows all SCFHC policies and procedures, including safety, security, and emergency procedures.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential in order to provide quality care to patients, face-to-face interaction with patients, and to work with the provided healthcare equipment collected at the clinic
- Maintain security and privacy of patients, guests, and clinic employees. Notify the supervisor of trespassers and other issues.
- Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches. Wear a Safety Belt at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Degree preferred
- A valid California Driver’s License
- A valid clean driving record
- Automobile Insurance
- OSHA Preferred
Experience:
- One (1) year of maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the maintenance field, i.e. carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drywall, or painting.
- Basic knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures.
Skills and Abilities:
- Type 35 wpm
- Bi-lingual/bi-literate English/Spanish preferred
- Excellent written, oral, and customer service skills
- Must be able to work independently within scope of assigned task with minimum supervision
- Computer knowledge, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), communication systems
- Ability to multitask and work as a team to accomplish common goals in the department
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to provide feedback, present problems in a professional manner, and accept constructive criticism both on an individual basis and within a group.
- Ability to operate hand tools and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively under stress, meet short deadlines, and take direction
- Ability to learn and use new software programs as systems are upgraded
