Summary: The Senior Manager, Security Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of corporate and field security across Strata Clean Energy. This role oversees the protection of personnel, property, and assets across the company’s offices, construction sites, and operational facilities. The successful candidate will be a hands-on security professional who can design, implement, and continuously improve policies, programs, and systems that promote a safe and secure work environment for all employees. This position directly oversees Strata’s in-house Security Operations Center (SOC) and leads a distributed team of security professionals responsible for monitoring, investigations, site response, and incident prevention. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with Safety, Construction, O&M, and Site Leadership to develop proactive strategies, mitigate theft and vandalism—particularly copper theft—and maintain strong relationships with local law enforcement and community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 8 (4 direct and 4 indirect) security professionals responsiblefor SOC operations, field security, and investigations.• Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance of SOC operators, field security personnel, and contractors• Promote accountability, high performance, and teamwork within the security organization. Security Operations & Strategy• Oversee daily operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring effective real-time monitoring, reporting, and escalation of security events.• Develop and implement companywide security policies, procedures, and standards for both office and field.• Coordinate with Safety and Field Operations to ensure consistent risk mitigation, emergency response planning, and incident management practices.• Monitor trends and incidents, analyze root causes, and develop actionable strategies to reduce risk and loss exposure.• Oversee physical security systems, camera coverage, and access control solutions to ensure functionality and coverage across all sites. Theft Prevention & Incident Response• Lead efforts to combat copper and material theft at construction and O&M sites, including developing deterrence measures, investigations, and law enforcement coordination.• Build partnerships with local police departments, county sheriffs, and recycling centers to prevent and respond to theft incidents.• Conduct field visits to theft-prone areas and assess vulnerabilities in site security infrastructure.• Track and report incidents, identifying trends and proposing preventive strategies. Reporting & Communication• Prepare and deliver a monthly Security Report summarizing all incidents, preventive measures, metrics, and progress on open issues.• Communicate clearly and professionally with executives, field leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.• Provide timely updates and recommendations to senior leadership regarding security performance, risks, and emerging issues.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and law enforcement engagement. Program Development & Continuous Improvement• Continuously assess and improve companywide security programs, incorporating industry best practices.• Recommend technology enhancements or process improvements to strengthen site security, reduce theft, and improve incident response.• Develop and facilitate training programs for employees and contractors to promote security awareness and compliance.• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for security effectiveness, response time, and incident reduction.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for both direct and indirect reports• Set clear performance expectations, goals, and metrics aligned with company and departmental objectives.• Conduct regular 1:1 check-ins, performance reviews, and ongoing feedback to support employee growth and accountability.• Manage work assignments, schedules, and priorities to ensure continuous monitoring coverage and effective response capabilities across all sites.• Foster a positive and respectful team culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and problem-solving.• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of new security team members.• Ensure staff adherence to established security procedures, safety standards, and company policies.• Monitor team performance and initiate corrective action or coaching where necessary.• Encourage innovation and participation from team members in identifying and implementing security improvements.• Coordinate workloads for team members who frequently travel or work remotely, maintaining effective communication and operational continuity.
Education and/or Work Experience
Requirements:
Required:• Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in corporate, field, or industrial security management.• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multi-site security teams or operations centers.• Proven success collaborating with law enforcement and managing theft or criminal investigations.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills—verbal, written, and presentation.• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills; ability to prioritize and execute independently.• Proficient with video surveillance systems, access control, and incident reporting platforms.• Willingness to travel to sites across multiple states as needed (approx. 20–30%).Preferred:• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field.• Experience in construction, energy, utilities, or renewable energy sectors.• Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, or similar.• Background in loss prevention, investigations, or emergency management.
