Job Description
Job Description
We believe serving others is noble!
HeyMaid is a veteran-owned residential cleaning company founded by Sam Stenard, a former Captain in the U.S. Air Force. We really, truly believe in service, in professionalism, and in doing what we say we're going to do — and we're looking for our first cleaning specialist to help us build the most loved home cleaning company in the Carolinas.
If that sounds like how you already think about your work, we want to hear from you!
Compensation
- Training pay: $18/hour for your first 30 days (or sooner for strong performers)
- After training: $20–25 per hour based on the job
- Mileage reimbursement at the IRS standard rate for business miles driven in your personal vehicle
- Paid drive time between client homes
- No tipping. You never have to depend on a client's mood for your paycheck.
- For full-time, tenured employees paid holidays, PTO, and a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer match become available.
Schedule
- Part time or full time (we can accommodate the right person)
- Monday through Friday
- No nights, weekends, or holidays. Your personal time is important!
- Most days are 2–3 cleaning jobs, typically within 15minutes of each other
The Role
This is a client-facing role for someone who enjoys getting to know the people whose homes they care for. Our clients are inviting us into their space, so the relationship matters as much as the cleaning.
It's also a detail-oriented role that rewards skill and efficiency. Pay is based on the job, not the hours you spend on it — so the more skilled and efficient you become, the higher your effective hourly wage, and the more of your day belongs to you.
What You'll Do
- Deliver professional cleanings in client homes and small businesses in our area (within 30 mins of Columbus, NC)
- Work solo on most jobs. (We find one person working alone is often more efficient and reduces friction with coworkers.)
- Build genuine rapport with your clients — remember their names, their pets, their preferences
- Follow (and improve!) HeyMaid's cleaning system and represent the brand on every visit
- Use a dedicated app to clock in and view your daily schedule
The First 30 Days
You'll train alongside our founder, Sam, for the first month. You'll learn our cleaning system, our standards, and how we take care of our clients. Strong performers can graduate to solo work sooner.
What We're Looking For
- Warm and people-oriented. Our clients invite you into their homes regularly — they should look forward to seeing you, and you should enjoy seeing them.
- Detail-oriented and efficiency-minded. You take pride in a thorough job, and you're motivated by the idea that working smart gives you more of your own day back.
- A real professional. Reliable, on time, clearly spoken, and comfortable representing a brand that clients trust.
- Independent. After training, you'll run your own jobs — we need someone who can manage their day without hand-holding.
- Comfortable around pets (most of our clients have them).
- No prior cleaning experience required. Previous work in healthcare, restaurants, or military service is a real plus.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
- Smartphone with a data plan
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate stairs comfortably
- Able to pass a background check and 4-panel drug test
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Why HeyMaid
- Flexible, part-time options. Build a schedule that fits your life.
- Personal time. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are always yours.
- Real professionalism. Uniforms, supplies, insurance, and a modern scheduling app are all provided.
- Rewards excellence. Pay is by the job, not the hour. The more skilled you are at cleaning, the more free time you'll have.
HeyMaid is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
