Job DescriptionDirect Counsel is seeking a Regional Private Companies Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded corporate practice.

Location(s): Washington, D.C. / Reston, VA

About the Role
We are partnering with a premier firm to identify an associate attorney with 3–5 years of experience advising early-stage and growth-stage companies. The role focuses on venture-backed companies, including venture capital financings, liquidity events, and general corporate matters throughout the company growth cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise disruptive and growth-stage companies and their investors on corporate governance and strategic legal matters.

• Draft, review, and negotiate corporate agreements, financing documents, and related contracts.

• Collaborate with partners and cross-practice teams on complex corporate transactions.

• Manage multiple matters efficiently while delivering high-quality work.

Qualifications

• J.D. from a nationally recognized law school.

• 3–5 years of corporate experience with early-stage and venture-backed companies.

• Experience in a national or international law firm corporate practice.

• Strong analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Compensation
The expected salary range is $260,000–$365,000, dependent on experience, location, and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
